1. Will alarms work when Alarmia is closed?
Alarmia can request push notifications for supported background alerts, but browsers and operating systems control whether and when they are delivered. A PWA cannot guarantee that it will wake the screen, play sound, or bypass Do Not Disturb. Keep notification permissions enabled and use your device's built-in alarm for critical wake events.
2. Why do safety features request location or microphone access?
Location is requested only when a feature needs to share your position during a safety incident. Microphone access is requested only for features that explicitly use audio. Browser permission prompts show before access is granted, and you can revoke access in your browser or device settings. Alarmia is a safety aid, not an emergency service.
3. Who can see a safety alert and live location?
Only signed-in participants authorized through an active accountability relationship can access an incident. When live location is enabled for an incident, authorized recipients may see location updates until tracking stops or the incident expires or is resolved. Notification delivery may use configured push or email channels.
4. Where are the accessibility controls?
Open Settings, then Accessibility to change text size, reduce motion, or increase contrast. Changes apply immediately and are saved in local storage on that browser. Alarmia also respects the device's reduced-motion preference. Clearing site data resets these choices.
5. Why did I not receive a notification?
Notifications require a signed-in account, permission from the browser or operating system, a valid subscription, and network availability. Battery optimization, browser suspension, Do Not Disturb, or provider delays can prevent or postpone delivery. Alarmia shows notification history where supported, but it cannot guarantee delivery.
6. How can I control or remove my data?
You can export supported account data from Profile, remove local preferences by clearing Alarmia site data in your browser, revoke device permissions in browser settings, and request account deletion from the account controls. See the Privacy Policy and Data Protection page for details and contact options.
7. How do trusted-person invitations and caregiver access work?
You can invite a trusted person by exact email, an opt-in private handle, or a single-use code or link. Existing users see an Accept or Decline card. Each invitation shows its direction and capabilities. Basic wake coordination does not grant care, emergency, shift, roommate-ring, remote-wake, or precise-location access. Sensitive access requires separate consent and can be revoked or blocked at any time.
8. What can an AI agent do in Alarmia?
When the experimental WebMCP feature is enabled, an agent can read redacted readiness summaries, list redacted pending invitations, open review screens, and prepare drafts. It cannot accept a relationship, send or resolve a safety incident, reveal location or care data, mark anyone safe, change permissions, ring a device, or delete data. You review and confirm every consequential action.
